Hello. My name is Scott. I've spent the past ~10 years working with proptech companies. For people new to real estate, proptech is just a business name made up for property and technology. Real estate and the lending around it is often low volume and high transaction value. This means process is important, but scalability needs are limited. Because of this, lean product and engineering methods are often effective in real estate, and I spend a lot of time focusing on this. I also weigh 100 pounds less than I used to, so there's another meaning for lean here. I hope that this resource helps people build better products in proptech.

I was a Director of Product at Compass, the largest independent real estate brokerage in the US. I headed up product management for New Ventures. Before that, I was a Director of Operations focusing on regional markets. Prior to Compass, I co-founded an apartment marketplace called VeryApt. Think of VeryApt as Redfin for rentals. It started as TripAdvisor for rentals. VeryApt remains profitable and operates in a handful of markets across the US. I have an MBA from Wharton and a BA from Johns Hopkins. I've spent some time in hedge funds covering consumer/retail. I've also been a management consultant focusing on mortgages. I have real estate licenses in NY, PA, DC, MD, and IL. I'm based out of NYC. I actively advise large brokerages, lenders, hedge funds, developers, and various startups. My work covers go-to-market and traditional operations strategy (customer experience, customer success), growth marketing (SEO, paid social, paid search, landing page optimization), sales ops (CRM implementation, sales enablement), and dozens of lean product launches (product development, site launches, hiring).
